OUR FIGHT CONTINUES...
On November 11, 2016, I lost an incredible man who made such a huge impact on my life. That man was my loving Pop-Pop, Phil, who battled vascular dementia & later Alzheimer's the last few years of his life. My Pop-Pop was a sweet man & never lost his sweetness even in the bitter end. He made me feel so loved, beautiful & special & I am forever grateful for the opportunity to have been his granddaughter.
He left behind his wife, my beautiful Mom-Mom, who cared for him so deeply & stood by his side each day. It was very difficult to watch her take on the caregiver role & I saw for the very first time how much a caregiver gives of themselves. Her strength is an inspiration to me & I can only pray that God continues to keep her strong during this new chapter of her life. I love you, Mom-Mom!
My fight originally started in the early 2000's when my grandmother, Mary, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. She has been the guiding force behind my fight against Alzheimer's ever since & each year I can feel her presence on Walk day as I stand in her city - Philadelphia. I miss her everyday!
I'm sad to add another reason to end this disease but my fight is even greater now! I refuse to allow other families endure the pain that comes along with this disease. I'm in this fight until the very end & I hope you will join my team or donate to help me in this fight! The end of Alzheimer's starts with me
Thank you for helping us advance Alzheimer's support, care and research!
