4 years ago we lost Nana (Peg) Hoy to Alzheimer's. Nana was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Nana always encouraged her family to work hard and cherish our time on this Earth. She could proudly name all 17 of her grandchildren and all 19 of her great-grandchildren, and she celebrated each academic, athletic, professional and family achievement. She sustained and imparted this personal pride and cheer leading through three generations.
Nana and Gramp (Bob) and their growing family spent whole summers at the family beach house in Hull, MA. Nana was equally comfortable behind the wheel of a boat or tagging closely behind on water skis. She and Gramp shared a love for the water. For them, experiencing a beautiful sunset over the bay from their front porch never got old.
In her later years she took up golf to spend more quality time with her love. To no one’s surprise other than her own, she scored a hole-in-one at Rockland, which trophy Gramp and she prominently displayed in a place of honor in their home.
Nana was uniquely capable of looking at life with bemusement and could be counted on to brighten each adventure and challenge with her ever-present smile and sunny disposition. Her wit, charm and grace made her home a haven not only to family, but also to friends, young and old.
Nana is greatly missed by all who knew her. In her honor please consider making a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure. The end of Alzheimer's disease starts with you.
