Gayle's Walk Donation Page
Hello Family and Friends!
Hummm. Must be time for the annual ALZ Walk. This Saturday 7/21, is the Charlestown Town Wide Yard Sale. Team Peaceful Memories will be joining in again this year. We have some great items. Thanks to all who have donated items! We will also be selling breakfast sandwiches, hotdogs, popcorn and cold drinks. Starts at 8am.
Most people know I'm not good at social media. I hate asking people to donate their hard earned money. But, I have to. I was able to attend this year seminar from the MA/NH ALZ Association. Still no big breakthru. We are still using the same medication that was introduced 15 years ago. Helps some people for awhile, not others. It is the 6th leading cause of death but the most expensive disease. People may live with ALZ for five, ten, fifteen years. If you have not seen this film from PBS called, Alzheimer's: Every Minute Counts that premiered January 2017, you should watch it. You can get it on the internet or stream PBS. I have seen many films on ALZ. Most of them have some good information. I feel this film is the best. It looks at ALL angles of the disease. But one part is right. It is going to be our #1 health crisis. Not just the human factor, but there is not enough to pay either privately, Medicare or Medicaid for all the care that will be needed. We need to find a cure or something that will help. Research is one way.
As most of you know Mom had a stroke on April 1st. Lets just say it was a big learning curve for me. It's just another aspect when dealing with ALZ. The stroke caused a big decline. But unlike the hospital we did not give up on her. I am so blessed that my sister has a place for Mom. Jenn and her staff worked tirelessly with Mom. They got her eating, walking etc.. I am so thankful! No she's not the same. Sleeps more and doesn't talk as much. But yup, as most of you probably have seen, there she is drumming with Recycle Percussion!
This is a long journey. My story will continue. Who knows. Someday I may be writing about me...
Please donate on my behalf to the ALZ Association. Thank You!
Thank you for helping us advance Alzheimer's support, care and research!
