Patricia's Walk Donation Page
I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
My mom, Wilma, known to her family as "Wink" will always be known to her children, grandchildren, and family as a woman who could SEW amazing things - and to us, as children, she did sew doll an Barbie clothes, but she won a HUGE award in jr. high for her seamstress skills. She always also was able to make a meal enough for not only us on Sundays, but enough for our family of 7 plus anyone she would randomly pick to invite home for Sunday "dinner" (Lunch).
Mom's grandchildren have fond memories of her making amazing chicken and dumplings, but in my mind, I will always view her as an amazing warrior. Mom was raised in a family of 13 where they literally had nothing, no indoor plumbing, and 2 beds in the entire house. She grew up in deep Faith in the Lord and passed that onto her children. After daddy died at the young age of 50, Mom carved a life for herself very very well. She has been an example in being a woman of faith, of manager her money well, and of giving back to others. Still, even though her memory has failed so much, she still prays over others in Trinity Elms, and has such a sunny disposition. I miss coming to her house and eating a meal with her and seeing how her green thumb had grown the most beautiful flowers. GOOO TEAM WINK!!
