For as long as I can remember, these two people have been family to me.
The blonde next to me is my "frister", my best friend since we are 13.
The other woman is my "MOM" Freddi. I always had a second home with Freddi. I always had laughs and a place to go when there was no else. I was considered the other child. I had a bed to sleep whenever I wanted. I had dinner waiting for me after work even when she would go play bingo. I had a ride if I called for one. As we (Bobbi and I) grew up, Freddi was my Momfriend in one. From bingo halls to casinos to road trips to sending funny cards to drinking by the pool to prank phone calls to multiple weddings..... there is so much to remember!
We have only memories now to remember Freddi, as we lost her this year. I miss her. It hurts too much to talk about, to know there is nothing we as individuals could have done. And we aren't the only family in this fight.
I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's(R). Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
