Robert's Walk Donation Page
2016 was a bad year for my family. In October my mother, Elizabeth Heslop, passed after a 10 year battle with this horrific disease. Mom had been taken care of by my sister for many years and eventually had to be put into a care home. Family went to see her just about every day but the last year she did not really know who anyone was, just that we were people that loved and cared for her.
A month later, my aunt, Dorothy Levangie, lost her battle to Alzheimer's after a 13 year fight. In a little over a month we lost 2 beloved matriarchs of our family. This was not the first time this disease has affected our family. My grandfather, James Halford, passed in 1986 after battling Alzheimer's.
We need to do more to battle this disease. More research, more lobbying to governments to make Alzheimer's research a priority. We need to get the research to not only slow this horrible disease down but to eradicate it altogether.
I missed last years walk and now have even more reason to participate, please consider helping me by donating, even $1 helps. If everyone that reads this will donate a little and pass it along to friends and relatives, then I can reach and surpass my goal of raising $1000.00 this year. I walk to attempt to make a difference and in the memory of those that have lost the battle, are still battling and are preparing to battle.
Please consider helping either by donating or by attending the walk in your area.
I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
