Some background: I am walking in honor of my father, my hero, TK Warfield, and the millions of families that are affected by Alzheimer's every day. I used to think this disease only affected people as they aged. That it was a part of "growing old" for most. Now dealing with this face-to-face, I realize how wrong I was. Alzheimer's affects the young, the old, children, parents, men, and women in so many ways. It does not discriminate. Dealing with Alzheimer's can be unpredictable, lonely, scary, and frustrating, but I know in my heart that a cure is out there. There IS something we can do! We are on the cutting edge of research...we just have to continue believing and praying that this disease will be conquered.
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Let's make a difference!!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart <3
