Heather's Walk Donation Page
When I registered for the first Montgomery (now River Region) Walk to End Alzheimer's in 2014, I Walked for my Pepaw, for my Papa, for my family. I Walked for Hayden and Isabel, so that they won't still be fighting this battle when they're my age.
That's still true - I absolutely still Walk for each of them. But through the Walk, and my involvement with the Alzheimer's Association, I Walk for a lot more now.
I Walk because based on statistics, each of us will either be caring for someone with Alzheimer's, or will be the one being cared for.
I Walk for Scot Mims, and for Angie, Macy, Mallie, and Mason, who are fighting with him in his struggle with early onset Alzheimer's.
I Walk for Menzella Kiser, and her husband Greg and their family.
I Walk for my friend Becky's Old Daddy, for Kadedra's great-grandmother, for Dutchie's mom.
I Walk for every caregiver I've had the privilege to meet, who is putting their loved one's needs in front of their own.
I Walk because as a woman, I'm more than twice as likely to develop Alzheimer's than a man.
I Walk for the more than 90,000 Alabamians fighting Alzheimer's, for the more than 200,000 Americans under age 65 with Alzheimer's, & for the 5 million other Americans with it as well. I Walk for their families, their caretakers, & those who can't Walk for themselves.
But more than anything, I still Walk for my Papa and my Pepaw, both of whom had Alzheimer's. I Walk for my grandmothers, parents, and other family members who filled the role of caregiver for both of them. And I Walk for my niece and nephew, and everyone else who should never have to face the devastation of this disease.
I need your support to do my part! Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's. For the millions already affected by the disease, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide.
If you can't support the Walk to End Alzheimer's financially, please consider volunteering or signing up to walk yourself. Anything that you are able to contribute - money, time, or support - is appreciated.
Thank you for joining the movement! The end of Alzheimer's disease starts with you.
Thank you for helping us advance Alzheimer's support, care and research!
