Depending on how you got to this page, you may or may not know that Alzheimer's has affected my family in a big away - my grandmother, Diane Zent and my stepfather, Doug Blankemeyer - have been affected. Regardless of how you were lead here, thank you for taking the time to check it out.

My stepdad, Doug, was first diagnosed in 2007 when he was in his 50's.    He fought Alzheimer's courageously and for many years was on the winning side.  But sadly, Alzheimer's is a relentless enemy that always wins.  Doug lost his battle on January 9th at the age of 69.  

The journey has not been an easy one.  For those of you that have been following our family's story, you must know how difficult it is, but you must also know we are blessed to have amazing friends and family supporting us along this long, winding road.

This year, we are going into the walk in a very different place than we have in the past.  We have had many ups and downs, many laughs and many tears, more so than years past. So in honor of my grandmother and in memory of Doug, we want to go above and beyond. We want to raise more than ever before, advocate as much a possible, and educate those who simply just don't understand.

Alzheimer's is a rapid growing disease and will only continue to affect more and more people as time goes on if we do not start treating it as a serious threat.

The reason percentages are droping for people dying from heart disease and cancer is because billions and billions of dollars have gone in to research and they are making constant breakthroughs on treatment and prevention. It is imperative that we get that same support, effort, and research for Alzheimer's before it's too late.

Every day there is more research being done on the cause of Alzheimer’s and how we might someday be able to cure this disease. In my mind, there would be nothing more rewarding than knowing I contributed (even if it is a penny) to helping find a cure for a disease that often takes people away from their friends and family much too soon.

That being said, I am asking you to please, help us raise money to help stop Alzheimer’s. Even if it’s a penny, all of your donations are appreciated and are going to a great cause!!

Lastly, we are putting a team together to participate in the walk in Cincinnati on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Sawyer Point - Downtown Cincinnati. If you would like to take part and walk with us, please let me know and register to join our team!
