Join our team to unite against Alzheimer's disease. This will be our family's 4th year participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer's, the nation's largest fundraising event for this awful disease.
Alzheimer's is the 6th leading cause of death in the Unites States. It currently affects more than 5 million Americans, and by 2050, this number could increase to as much as 16 million. This year, this disease and other dementias will cost the nation about $259 billion and that number is only going to go up in the future.
These are staggering statistics, and yet those statistics mean nothing if you separate them from the people whose lives are impacted every day from Alzheimer's. Mom was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's disease 4 years ago, before she had even turned 60. This diagnosis changed her life and our lives and continues to impact every day. Mom is not able to participate in many of the activities that once occupied so much of her time, but one thing that Alzheimer's has not affected is her character. Anyone who knows Mom knows what a phenomenal woman she is, and what a loving and dedicated wife, mother, sister, tante and friend she has been over the years. She has handled this disease with grace, peace and faith, even on hard days.
We're walking for and with Mom, to stand up against this disease that currently has no cure, and no good treatment options. We'd love for you to join us, either in person on walk day, or through a financial contribution. Our team raised over $2,000 last year and we are looking to raise even more this year! Help us achieve our goal of a world without Alzheimer's, and thank you in advance for all of your support!
