Yes, folks. It is that time of year for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s with BB’s Buddies! The outpouring of support from you last year was nothing short of phenomenal. I thought I was going out on a limb last year with a goal of $10,000. Well, at the end of the day, the final tally was $23,000+, making BB’s Buddies #4 in North Carolina and in the top 50 in the country. Never in my wildest dreams did I envision that kind of response and support, and I am truly humbled by the love and support for BB and my family as we travel the course of this wretched disease.
It has been a difficult year of transition with BB. As you know, we placed her in the Alzheimer’s unit at Aston Park in May of last year. She was adapting fairly well until December when walking down the hall with a CNA she rolled her ankle and broke it which required surgery and a cast and a wheelchair for six weeks. Once the cast was removed, P.T.s worked with her, but because of her progression, she had forgotten how to walk! BB is no longer in the Alzheimer’s unit but in the long-term care part of Aston Park and sits (mostly sleeps) in her wheelchair all day. She is pretty non-verbal these days but still manages to say “I love you,” and not just to me but to anyone who walks by.
So this horrible disease is progressing fairly rapidly which steels my resolve to raise as much money and awareness so that one day there will be a cure.
Please join me and become a part of BB’s Buddies on, at Pack Square.
Please consider making a donation using the link here. Call me crazy, but my goal this year is $20,000, and with your help we can get there.
And later that afternoon, Josh Sperling at Table Wine again has graciously stated that 10% of gross sales thatwill go to BB’s Buddies.
And when you have a moment, please see the video below. Thank you, thank you for your continued support.
