First and foremost, I want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart who have donated and supported our efforts over the past four years.
So I’m sitting in a bar in New Orleans in 1971 and this pretty little blond walks up to me and says, “Aren’t you Robin Boylan?” So she had me at hello! We got married in Asheville in 1974, I inherited a wonderful son Beau, and in 1980 Katharine came into our lives. We moved to Asheville in 1983. Fast forward to May 23, 2016 which will always be remembered as the most heartbreaking day of my life, for that is the day Katharine, Beau and I placed Barbara in the Alzheimer’s unit at Aston Park. Gone is that wonderful person that loved her children, her plants, her dogs and generally life itself. Her life is now walking the halls and talking with other residents. Often called the long goodbye, this disease is truly devastating to all: patients, caregivers, family and friends.
I hate Alzheimer’s, and that is why I am walking on September 17 in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. I walk so that no other families have to face this disease. I walk for more funding for more resources for caregivers. I walk for more funding for research into prevention, treatments and a cure for Alzheimer’s.
Please join me and become a part of “BB’s Buddies” on Saturday, September 17, at Pack Plaza.
Please consider making a donation using the link here. My goal last year was $5,000, and we raised $7,400! My goal this year is $10,000!
Thank you for your continued support.
