We are walking in honor of our mothers, aunts, and grandmothers who suffered from Alzheimer's or dementia. Our team picture shows the five Debagie sisters who we are honoring. They are 1st generation Lebanese-Americans. Four out of the five sisters were diagnosed with the disease. We are walking in memory of the three oldest sisters who are no longer with us, in honor of the youngest who is currently living with dementia, and in support of the fifth sister who is now 87 years old and had to witness all of her sisters deteriorating from this awful disease.
We chose our team name, Tabbouleh Express, as a tribute to our Lebanese culture. Our team is comprised of many of the daughters of the five Debagie sisters and their families, as well as great friends who are here to support us.
Alzheimer's disease is the 6th leading cause of death in the U.S. One in three seniors dies with Alzheimer's or another dementia. We want to help change that. We appreciate your support in helping us find a cure for this terrible disease! We'd love to have you join us on walk day!
