Vicky's Walk Donation Page
I take part in the Walk because I have seen firsthand what Alzheimer's can do to a person. Alzheimer's has such a far-reaching effect that it crosses generational lines and can devastate a family in ways no other disease can.
The fact that it is still so underfunded makes me both angry and sad. I'm afraid that there are many people out there who think this can't possibly happen to them or a close loved one, but it can. It does. And it's going to keep going unless we find a cure.
I lost my father, the namesake of my team, after a twelve year battle with Alzheimer's last November. I take part in this Walk not only to raise much needed funds and awareness, but to honor my father. He was such a vibrant man with a wonderfully sarcastic personality. He was also a loving, understanding man and an amazing Poppy to his many grandkids and great grandkids. He lost all of those traits that made him who he was years before we lost him. That's just what Alzheimer's does.
I do my part in the hope that I will see a cure within my lifetime. Please help me raise money and awareness. Please help me honor everyone who is fighting this dreaded disease as well as their caretakers and family members. Help me honor those who have lost their fight. Please help.
Thank you for your time.
P.S. Remember that there is no such thing as "too small of a donation". Every dollar is one more dollar towards finding a cure and I'll gladly accept it.
Thank you for helping us advance Alzheimer's support, care and research!
