Janet's Walk Donation Page
Hello, my name is Janet Harris.
I lost my father to Alzheimer's disease. Because of this, I want to do whatever I can to help rid the world of this devastating disease. Each year, in memory of my Dad, I sponsor a team, Sherman's Walkers, to participate in the local walk.
Alzheimer's affects us all, directly or indirectly. It leaves only the facade of the person you love; a traumatizing reality for those of us providing care giving. Every 67 seconds, a person in the US develops the disease. Currently, in the Coachella Valley, 55,672 individuals and their caregivers are affected. It is California's 5th leading cause of death, and the only one in the top 10 that cannot be prevented, slowed or treated.
Your donation to my team and me can make a difference to these people and their caregivers. All proceeds go to the Alzheimer's Association to be used to provide support to those affected and their caregivers, and to fund research for a cure. The Walk also increases the community's awareness of the disease and celebrates the Commitment of Family Caregivers that are providing the best quality of life for their loved ones.
On behalf of the families affected, thank you for your generosity.
