Alzheimer's has afflicted my family for three generations. First was my Great Grandma Kirk, then my Grandma Fiske, and then my Uncle Kevin. All went through the same horrible, slow slide to complete and constant confusion, and then passed away.
The photo is of my Uncle Kevin, who was a Golden Gloves Boxer in college, a successful businessman, and a nationally ranked bicyclist for many years. Kevin was diagnosed at age 59 and passed away at 64. The photo is Kevin at age 62 while he was living in a care facility.
Support of the Alzheimer's Association is important to the Fiske family. My father, Pat Fiske, is a Member of Board of Directors, Alzheimer's Association Chapter for Minnesota/North Dakota, Chair of Development Committee, serves on the Executive and Advocacy Committees, and has been attending the Alzheimer's Advocacy Forum in Washington, D.C. annually for several years. I volunteered to be Edward Jones' Regional Coordinator in support of the Alzheimer's Association.
Hopeful for progress towards a cure.
