Bernadette's Walk Donation Page
I'm walking to help reclaim the future for millions by participating in the 2018 Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's™. I'm committed to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer research, care and support. My commitment to this cause is a personal one, having lost a loved one to Alzheimer's.
My mother, Josephine Collura was the light of my life! She was a caring and selfless woman who always put others before herself, especially her family members whom she loved deeply. She was an active mother and grandmother who worked for many years as seamstress. She worked tirelessly for many charitable, civic and religious organizations. Her love for her local community and her country inspired her volunteer work in local and national political campaigns. Her goal was always to have a positive impact in the world.
Despite being diagnosed with early stages of dementia, my mother continued to live an active and fulfilling life with the assistance of her family caregivers. As the disease progressed it was heartbreaking to witness the decline of this once unstoppable woman. More devastating, was knowing that memories of all she held most dear; family, friends and life's special moments, both past and present, were slowly slipping away. In May of 2011 Mom lost her battle with Alzheimer's. For the past eleven years, "Those Gosh Darn Kids", (as she endearingly called us) have participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer's. We do so in an effort to end Alzheimer's and regain a hopeful future for our children and grandchildren.
Please consider donating, or joining us as part of our team for this year's Walk to End Alzheimer's which will take place at Patriots Place in Foxborough MA (date to be announced in May). Please consider joining our team or making a donation.
