Thank you for helping us advance Alzheimer's support, care, and research!
We have raised
After careful consideration of several factors and in the interest of safety for those helping us fight Alzheimer's disease, we have RESCHEDULED both the Cedar Rapids and Waterloo Walk to End Alzheimer’s events to SATURDAY, OCTOBER 15th. Time and location remain the same.
We understand this may pose an inconvenience or may not be an ideal time to reschedule but we hope you will make every effort to join us in three weeks. We truly appreciate your understanding and patience as we work diligently to ensure we still have an inspirational, supportive event in October. You may continue to raise funds on our respective Walk sites until then at act.alz.org/cedarrapidswalk or act.alz.org/waterloowalk
The Alzheimer's Association East Central Iowa Chapter office in Cedar Rapids is located in the downtown flood plane and will be evacuated starting Monday until further notice. When the office re-opens you may stop in and drop off donations and pick up your event shirt if you are unable to attend the reschedule date. You may visit the Waterloo office at any time Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm.
This flood has the potential to impact the community as greatly as it did in 2008. And we encourage you to take the free time you will now have on Saturday to continue to support our community. Take a moment to talk with a neighbor or family member who has Alzheimer's and make them feel comfortable and safe during this time. We also encourage you to gather family and friends that were coming in from out of town for the Walk to help with the sandbagging efforts. Contact the United Way at www.uweci.org for more information on how you can get involved.
