Actors Unite to End Alzheimer's
In memory of Marlin Zimmerman
Come join me and this wonderful team of Actors, Artists, Industry Colleagues, Friends and Family for the third Actors and Artists Unite NYC team walk on Sunday, October 20th in beautiful Riverside Park, Manhattan."We take care of our own"- that is the foundation of this team. I founded the team Actors and Artists Unite to End Alzheimer's in 2011 in honor of my mom who was diagnosed in 2009 and my dad who was her primary caregiver. Actors and Artists Unite was founded to create a community of support, guidance and compassion for anyone who has a loved one with Alzheimer's. DCMetroArts.com, Backstage.com and Broadwayworld.com hailed our team and actors across the country responded- "I'm walking in Virginia! I'm walking in Chicago!" As we walked the course across the country, other actors ran up to us- "I'm an actor, too! Can I walk with you? We were walking in glory. This year- we decided to become a national team and in light of that we decided to expand our name slightly to better reflect the actors, writers, directors, stage managers, dancers, singers, production crew and all of our freinds, colleagues and families who are a part of this glorious team across the country. We changed our name from Actors Unite to Actors and Artists Unite to End Alzheimer's. Anyone can create their own team under our national team name in any city that has a Walk to End Alzheimer's.
Sadly- my mom died of Alzheimer's on May 8th, 2012 and as both my dad and my priest, Gabriel Ferrer said- "You have been carrying this torch- and now- you must run with it." So- join us- actors, artists, colleagues, friends and family- as we run with this torch to bring about a cure in our lifetime. We take care of our own. Sunday, October 2oth 97th Street and Riverside Park. Registration begins at 9 AM, opening ceremonies at 10 AM and the 1-3 mile walk begins at 11 AM.
When Actors and Artists Unite- the world can shift! And sure enough- it does! Slainte!! So, come join us! We have magic to do!!
Founder and National Captain of Actors and Artists Unite to End Alzheimer's
I'm walking to help reclaim the future for millions. By participating in the 2012 Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's, I'm committed to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer research, care and support.
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
I need your support to do my part! Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into prevention, treatments and a cure for Alzheimer's. For the millions already affected by the disease, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide.
Thank you for joining our movement! The end of Alzheimer's disease starts here.
