Welcome to My Personal Page
My name is Alex Elletson, and on June 21st, I'm participating in The Longest Day, an event to honor the strength, passion and endurance of those facing Alzheimer's disease. From sunrise to sunset, I will play games with my family and friends to raise awareness and funds for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
Earlier this year, I learned that my great-grandfather had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. I didn't know very much about the disease, but then, my third grade teacher, Mrs. Fox, picked me to study Alzheimer’s for a class project. When I learned how devastating this disease is to the the people diagnosed and their families, I decided to take part in The Longest Day fundraiser. The funds raised are used to find a cure!
June 21st happens to by my 9th birthday. I am so excited to spend my special day helping to raise awareness and funds for the Alzheimer's Association. Please consider signing up to play with me. I have a lot of fun games planned. If your favorite game isn't listed, just let me know and we can add it to the list! If you are too far away to play with me you can still join my team and help me raise funds for this important cause. Just e-mail me (or my mom) for more information. At the end of the day, we will have a sunset celebration with cake and ice-cream!
Today, over 35 million people across the world are living with Alzheimer's, including more than 5 million Americans. In the United States alone, more than 15 million caregivers generously dedicate themselves to those with Alzheimer's and dementia. And these numbers will only continue to rise unless we take action.
Together, we can show those facing Alzheimer's disease they are not alone. Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research and provide care and support to those facing the disease today. Together we will find a cure!
