is fundraising to honor:
My father, Wi I Hsu
I am so thrilled to have joined the Alzheimer's Association The Longest Day Team! On March 17, 2019, I will be running the NYC Half in honor of my father, Dr. Wi I Hsu, who was diagnosed with this devastating disease almost 8 years ago. It has been painful to see this once incredibly articulate and disciplined man being robbed of his gifted mind. His well-deserved retirement life with my mother ended far too quickly. However, we've also been able to witness how, over time, the right support, resources and care have given him a new, very happy norm. They've been able to take advantage of daytime memory care programs and community resources that offer him a safe place to be independent and enjoy time with peers, and we could not be more grateful for the amazing home-based caretakers they've found to give respite to my mother.
I am running in honor of my father and to raise awareness about the many needs that a family touched by Alzheimer's may face. Please help me fight against this destructive disease with a donation.
What are we fighting for? Most importantly, to drive global research and create critical advancements in Alzheimer's prevention. Furthermore, to support those facing Alzheimer's, and their caregivers, and to speak up for their needs. Lastly, to educate and raise awareness so that families afflicted by this disease can be proactive in their treatment. The time to take action is now.
I am so excited to run this 13.1 mile tour of NYC! Please join me in standing up to the darkness of Alzheimer's, and to honor my father's life and continued legacy. Thank you in advance for your generous support and encouragement!
