Something I Will Never Forget
is fundraising to honor:
all those facing Alzheimer's
The Longest Day is the day of the year with the most light — the summer solstice. And it's the day I have committed to fighting Alzheimer's disease! I’m participating in The Longest Day, a fundraising event to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
In the fall of 2016 our mother lost her battle with Alzheimer's dementia. My best friend lost her father to another degenerative disease. We found ourselves with a void in our lives and suffering overwhelming grief. There is always plenty of tasks to fill the time, but we were all in need of healing. We found paddle boarding- a healthful activity to keep our bodies and minds young.
More importantly, we have reconnected bonds of friendship and sisterhood helping each other through our grieving losses. We are dedicated to creating memories on the water to help us to never forget and to give give back by helping raise the awareness of the battle to end Alzheimer's and dementia.
To aid in the fight, we are paddling from St. Augustine to Palm Beach, Florida in a series of weekend paddle events over several months, starting in October 2018 and ending on June 21, 2019 - the longest day.
We are partnering with friends, meet-up groups and outfitters, and others along Florida's East coast inviting paddlers to join us along the way as we make our way along the coast encouraging others to join us.
Stand up to the darkness of Alzheimer’s, join us on our journey or make a donation today to help the Alzheimer's Association support all those facing the disease. Thank you!
