is participating to honor:
all those facing Alzheimer's
Over 4 years ago, I began advocating to raise Alzheimer's disease and Alzheimer's caregiver awareness. I did so after caring for my dad who passed from the disease. My involvement was for selfish reasons at first - to help me get over my depression. But, then I began realizing I could help others through my involvement. Since then I have met so many people impacted by the disease, both having Alzheimer's as well being caregivers, and my efforts are dedicated to them.
During this fall I will begin cycling the state border of Arkansas to connect with those who will benefit by knowing about the Alzheimer's Association and all the resources available to them. On stops along my ride I will be giving folks printed material from the Alzheimer's Association (things such as 'Know the 10 Signs', 'Basics of Alzheimer's). My goal will be to help them avoid having to learn things the hard way like my family and I did as we cared for my dad.
There is also a fundraising aspect to my event. If you are able and interested please feel confident donating to the Alzheimer's Association knowing you are making a difference (and your donation is tax deductible). And, you can also offer words of encouragement through my event page as well.
I appreciate each of you and thank you for taking time to learn about my story.
