My Story

Dear Friends and Family,

It is hard to believe that the summer solstice, the longest day of the year on June 21st, is right around the corner.  And that means The Longest Day event for the Alzheimer’s Association is quickly approaching!

This will be the fifth year that we have participated in this event.  But this year will be different than any other year.  As many of you know, my mother passed away last September after suffering from Alzheimer’s for many years.  To this day, I still cannot wrap my head around the fact that she is no longer with us.  It is almost impossible to describe how the last few years unfolded for my family.  But it happened.  And it continues to happen to many families.

That is the reason we participate in The Longest Day.  To continue to fight for a cure.  To continue to raise awareness around a disease that steals everything from a person (and I do mean everything).  And to continue to keep the conversation surrounding the disease open and honest… is an extremely isolating disease and those suffering from it, as well as their caregivers, should not feel alone.

Our team, Mile High Memory Club, has had many fun years biking around Denver, hiking 14’ers and playing golf for The Longest Day.  This year, we will host another golf tournament to raise funds for this disease.  So find a foursome and join us!   And wear PURPLE!

The preliminary details are below.   Please contact Sarah or Bob if you are interested in playing.  A signup will go out prior to the tournament to enter the names in your foursome.

2018 Longest Day Golf Tournament

When:   Thursday, June 21st

Where:  Raccoon Creek Golf Course, Littleton

Time:    Tee off early afternoon (tee times determined once foursomes are confirmed)

Cost:     $85 per player (cost includes a round of golf, range balls, golf cart and food and non-alcoholic beverages following the tournament).  Cost to be paid directly to Raccoon Creek on the day of the tournament.**

**Donations to The Longest Day are NOT included in this cost.  If you would like to make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association, you can do so on this page by clicking the DONATE button above.

Of course, you do not have to play golf to make an impact on Alzheimer’s.  As we just mentioned, this is our team page where you can make a direct donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.  Any amount helps and is greatly appreciated.  Please click on the DONATE button that will take you to our fundraising page where you can give.

So let’s find a cure together and end this cruel disease.  While we all know our days on this earth are numbered, we deserve to leave this world with dignity, with the ability to say a simple sentence such as “I love you” and, most importantly, to recognize the person you are saying it to.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

Sarah and Bob
