This Summer, I'm doing what I love to honor those affected by Alzheimer’s disease. I’m participating in The Longest Day, a fundraising event to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. I plan to participate in multiple ways-- I will hold various fundraisers throughout the spring, I will participate in a bike ride on April 21st, and I will host a pick-up soccer game in June to raise money for a cause that I care deeply about.
My grandmother (Gonie) was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2013. My mother was an amazing caregiver for her until she passed away in February of 2018. It was a heartbreaking loss. In the fall of 2017, my dad's mom, (Grammie) was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. It is becoming clearer to me every day how many people are impacted by this disease.
Today, over 35 million people across the world are living with Alzheimer's, including more than 5 million Americans. In the U.S. alone, more than 15 million caregivers generously dedicate themselves to those with Alzheimer's and dementia. We must take action now, or these numbers will continue to rise.
Together, we can show those facing Alzheimer's disease that they are not alone. Please make a donation today to help the Alzheimer's Association support all those facing the disease. Thank you! I truly believe we will find a cure in my lifetime.
