is participating to honor:
with my team
On March 18th, I'll participate in The New York City Half Marathon-- an event with impact far greater than 13.1 miles. Over the past six years or so, I've grown to love running both as exercise and as a meditation. I've decided to run the NYC Half as motivation to run everyday, but more importantly to support the Alzheimers's Association.
As you may know, my grandma, Marcia battled with Alzheimer's for many years. I witnessed the horrible nature of the disease as it deteriorated her memory and other mental functions. Eventually, Alzheimer’s left Marcia with trace of her personality. It was hard to watch the disease run its course fading Marcia's eclectic, passionate, colorful, overtly honest, and sometimes explicit persona, which made her loved, cherished, an inspiration, and...sometimes offended by so many people. :)
I'll be running for Marcia and the 47 million people living with Alzheimer's worldwide. The funds raised via participation in the NYC Half will support these people and fund a research.
