is participating to honor:
my father, David McGan
On May 6, 2018 My son Connor and I will be participating in the TD Bike Tour riding 40 miles through the five boroughs of New York City to honor those affected by Alzheimer’s disease. I’m participating in The Longest Day, a fundraising event to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. My Father, David McGan, has Dementia and I have seen my brilliant father change so much in just one year of being diagnosed. My father, once a Computer Engineer for General Electric, now struggles to find words to describe what he is thinking. The last two years before he was diagnosed he took care of my mother, his wife of 52 years, who was suffering with Cirrhosis and was unable to walk. Once she passed we noticed significant memory issues and an inability to complete sentences.
Today, over 35 million people across the world are living with Alzheimer's, including more than 5 million Americans. In the U.S. alone, more than 15 million caregivers generously dedicate themselves to those with Alzheimer's and dementia. We must take action now, or these numbers will continue to rise.
Together, we can show those facing Alzheimer's disease that they are not alone. Please make a donation today to help the Alzheimer's Association support all those facing the disease. Thank you!
