is participating to honor:
all those facing Alzheimer's
I have recently completed more than 21,000 miles towards my around-the-world tour on my Expresso stationary bike at Health Unlimited in Mt. Airy Maryland. The earth’s circumference is 24,901 miles. This leaves 3,300 miles, or my doing about 550 miles a month until June 21st when I cross the finish line on the Longest Day.
In 2015, I had an accident which left me with a boot on my foot, and the only aerobic exercise I could do was riding a stationary bike. After several months this developed into an obsession, and I decided to see if I could take a virtual tour around the globe
In 2017 I completed 9,000 miles which ranked me second in the world. In my age category (70 to 79) I am first! As the miles started to mount, I decided to use this opportunity for an important cause. My wife and I have lost several family members to this Alzheimer's disease. The Longest Day event is a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness and funds to help make a difference.
Unlike the journey through Alzheimer’s disease, the course I take is totally flat. There are no hills on the course and I’ve had no problems traversing mountains, oceans, rivers or lakes. Your help in raising funds for Alzheimer’s support and research will help smooth the way for others as they make their way through this challenging, terrible disease.
Your support is greatly appreciated.
