is participating to honor:
my wife Sandy.
Good morning everyone, On June 23th, I will be participating in The Longest Day Event, sponsered by the Alzheimer's Assoc. I am doing this by teaming up with a good friend - Priscilla Rowe, who lost her parents to this disease. This is an event to honor the strength, passion and endurance of those facing Alzheimer's disease. From sunrise to sunset, our team - Rowes Rollers will complete an activity of our choosing to raise awareness and funds for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. Our main activity for the day is a Bowl-A-Thon at The Big Twenty Alley on Rt. One in Scarboro. This event will take place from Noon - 7:00 pm. The Bowling Alley is graciously donating half of proceeds(A BIG THANK YOU to Mike) back to our team in this event. We are also having a mini bake sale and new this year will be cribbage tables where you can donate to our cause and play a few games(there may even be some give aways).
My goal for the event is to personally raise $1000. towards research and awareness of the disease. You can come bowl, play a few games, buy some goodies or donate flat amounts. I am offering a challenge pledge type of drive where I will look for getting $.02 for every pin I knock down(last year I bowled 27 games) or $1.00 for every game I bowl that day.
I am part of this event in support of my wife ,Sandy who has this disease. We have been fighting it since 2011, almost 7 plus yrs. It is a daily battle. It is a very lonely disease for all involved and causes extreme hardship in families and caregivers alike. It is time for more advancement towards the cure!
Today, over 35 million people across the world are living with Alzheimer's, including more than 5 million Americans. In the United States alone, more than 15 million caregivers generously dedicate themselves to those with Alzheimer's and dementia. And these numbers will only continue to rise unless we take action.
Together, we can show those facing Alzheimer's disease they are not alone. Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research and provide care and support to those facing the disease today.
I want to Thank You All for supporting Our Team and Us in this day.
