Legacy To Protect

Today, an estimated 47 million people worldwide are living with dementia. This number is set to skyrocket to 75 million by 2030. In the United States alone, more than 15 million caregivers dedicate themselves to those with Alzheimer's and dementia.

Legacy to Protect is participating in The Longest Day to raise awareness for preserving the stories that are lost due to Alzheimer's. We are a group of high school seniors living in Colorado, this is our Senior project. All of us have been affected by Alzheimer's, whether it was a family member or  family friend. Two of us in the group never knew one of our grandparents because they died too soon. This is what sparked our idea and we are hoping to raise money so Alzheimer's may one day be stopped or prevented so legacies can survive for ages.

Our project’s intent is to record and save some of the great stories and wise words from the generations before us. We interviewed five people and are working on making those interviews into DVD's and we are going to give those to the interviewees and their families.

Together, we can show those facing Alzheimer's they are not alone. Please make a donation to help fund the Alzheimer's Association advance research. This could help discover a cure for this malicious disease.
