Our chapter team, the Memory Gardeners will be hosting a special Remembrance Ceremony at the Alzheimer's Association Memory Garden in Smale Park on June 21 - the longest day. We are asking for $10 donations for purple glow sticks that we will write a loved one's name on for you, or you can make it in honor/memory of all of those affected. These glow sticks will be a very special part of the ceremony that evening at 7:30 pm. We encourage everyone to come down for some give-a-ways & snacks and to be a part of the ceremony. If you purchase a glow stick you will have the opportunity to be a part of the ceremony honoring those we love and have lost to Alzheimer's disease and other related dementia's.
All funds raised will help raise awareness and advance the local care, support and national/international research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association.
A Few Facts about Alzheimer's that you may not know.
• Every 66 seconds someone in the US develops the disease
• It is the 6th leading cause of death and the ONLY disease in the top 10 in America that CANNOT BE PREVENTED, CURED OR EVEN SLOWED DOWN
• It is not just something that happens with age- of the 5 Million Americans living with the disease 4% (200,000) are age 65 and under. 16% are 65-74 and 44% are 75-84.
HOWEVER TOGETHER, we can show those facing Alzheimer's disease and their caregivers that they are not alone. Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research toward the FIRST SURVIVOR OF ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE and provide care and support to those facing the disease today.
We THANK YOU in advance for your support!
