Welcome to My Personal Page
The summer solstice (the longest day of the year) occurs on June 21st. The Longest Day event sponsored by the Alzheimer's Association is in reference to the typical day someone endures when they care for a loved one suffering from this terrible disease. Every day can seem like the longest day. This year I will be spending the summer riding my bike, coast-to-coast, across the country, to support those who care for Alzheimer's patients and to support research to find a cure.
Nearly everyone knows someone who has been affected by Alzheimer's Disease, but if by some chance you are unfamiliar with it, I would like to share a few statistics. Today, an estimated 47 million people across the world are living with dementia. This number is set to skyrocket to 75 million by 2030. In the United States alone, more than 15 million caregivers dedicate themselves to those with Alzheimer's and dementia. These numbers will only continue to rise unless we take action.
I am a pharmacist, and during my career I have had the opportunity to participate in the care of individuals suffering from Alzheimer's disease. Today, I work for a pharmaceutical company that is trying to develop medications to help treat these same patients.
Together, we can show those facing Alzheimer's disease they are not alone. Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research toward the first survivor of Alzheimer’s and provide care and support to those facing the disease today.
