Hi, my name is Kelly Wall. As an emergency room RN, I thought I had seen all the heart ache, frustration, agitation, suffering and brokenness that any disease could cause. I was wrong. Alzheimer’s Disease is all of these and more.
My mother was diagnosed 6 years ago with early stages of Alzheimer’s. My father died of kidney disease 5 years ago, but also was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. As you can see this disease has hit very close to home with me. To watch how progressively this disease has destroyed my mother’s mind (brain) has broken my heart, but it has also lit a fire in my soul to help bring this monster disease to an end.
Alzheimer’s Association has helped me in opening my eyes to many different avenues to Alzheimer's. I would not have been able to obtain such knowledge on my own without them. The Association not only serves patients with this disease, but they also serve other dementias, their families, caregivers and the community by offering programs and services that are free.
Alzheimer Disease is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States. Every 66 seconds someone in the United States develops the disease. These statistics is the number one reason why we need to get on board together. We need to help educate and help bring awareness of this disease to everyone.
I am so honored to be a Dancing Star of Coastal Georgia. Please join me on this life-changing journey to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association. This event will support and drastically improve the lives of 5 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s and their loved ones. I appreciate and thank you for your support by contributing. Together we can find a cure.
