Fundraising Honor Roll

Hi, y’all! My name is Natima Walker and I am thrilled to be dancing in this year’s Dancing Stars of Dalton Event to raise money for the important work the Alzheimer’s Association does!

I was born in Dalton, Georgia and I am a graduate of Murray County High School. I went on to earn my Bachelor’s degree in English from Dalton State and a Master’s of Education from Georgia Southern University. I am the Executive Director of The GreenHouse, Child Advocacy and Sexual Assault Center—we provide therapy, forensic interviews, and advocacy to victims of sexual and extreme physical abuse at no cost. I absolutely love the work we get to do every day—there’s nothing quite like seeing a child recover from trauma and knowing your efforts helped them along their journey!

Jason Walker and I have been married for thirteen years and we have two boys—Hank and Beau—who keep us quite busy when we’re not working. Jason has been employed with Dalton Utilities for 18 years. During our “off” time, you’ll mostly find us screaming at the television while we watch SEC football (GO DAWGS!), rafting, golfing, or refinishing furniture in our garage.

I am participating in this year’s event because caregivers that are often charged with overseeing their grandchildren or even great-grandchildren need all the support they can get.  As they grow older and attempt to re-parent, their health and mental faculties need to be as sharp as possible. Sometimes, the caregiver needs a caregiver, so that’s why I’m going to leave it all on the dance floor this year! (I also really love to dance, so this is an opportunity to mix work with some serious fun!)

I want to thank you for taking the time to read about me and for considering a gift to the Alzheimer’s Association, an organization that provides direct services to those affected by this dreadful disease.
