Hi I am Nichole Kennedy and thanks for visiting my page!
I am wife and mother of two children: Jackson (sophomore at Grovetown High School) and Katie (7th grader at Columbia Middle School). My husband Keith works for Goodwill Industries of North Georgia as a Senior Director. My family moved to Columbia County in 2010 and we have never been happier. The CSRA is a wonderful place to work, live, and raise a family. I am not originally from Georgia but have spent most of my adult life here. I was born in Virginia and spent most of my years growing up in Memphis as well as the Northern Virginia area. I attended college at Virginia Tech majoring in Psychology. Both my husband and I graduated from Tech then we both moved to Alabama to go to graduate school and have lived down south ever since.
I have an extensive and varied career in post-secondary education. With an expertise that focuses on the experiences and needs of students, I have served in capacities that bridge educational policy and student services. I currently hold the position of Vice President for Student Affairs at Augusta Technical College but my career in higher education spans 20 years.
I received my training at Virginia Tech (B.S., Psychology), Auburn University (M. Ed., Counseling), and the University of Georgia (Ed. D., Higher Education). In addition to my role(s) on campus, I am an active member of the Georgia Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (GACRAO). Within this organization, I have served on the executive committee for a number of years, and was President from 2011-2012. I am also a member of the executive board for Columbia County Community Connections in addition to serving on the Drug Free Coalition for Columbia County.
I enjoy reading, traveling whenever possible, running, and spending time with my family. I have been touched by Alzheimer’s on my mother’s side of the family. While I love a good competition and certainly love to win, this isn’t simply a vote for me … it’s a vote to defeat Alzheimer’s and that’s a battle I definitely want to win! Every $1.00 donated for me is a vote that goes toward finding a cure for this awful disease! Thanks for reading; Thanks for voting for Ken and Me; Let’s Do This!!
