Thank you for visiting. This page is a tribute to Kenneth Noble Stevens, professor of Electrical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for 52 years, a world leader in Acoustic Phonetics, recipient of the 1999 National Medal of Science, member of the National Academy of Science, fellow and former president of the Acoustical Society of America. He received the Silver Medal in Speech Communication in 1983 and the Gold Medal from the Acoustical Society in 1995. He won the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers James L. Flanagan Speech and Audio Processing Award in 2004.
He was a devoted and loving father of six children and grandfather of five. His children, students, colleagues, and friends will remember him for his enthusiasm for life, his love of the outdoors, and his humble, gracious, and disarming personality.
He passed away peacefully on August 19th, 2013. He was 89 years old. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
