Making the World a Safer Place

John H. "Jack" Cover, one of the most influential inventors of modern times passed away who affected the lives of hundreds of thousands of law enforcement officers, citizens and even criminal suspects. Jack's dream of reducing violence through the TASERŽ technology was realized since his earliest invention of the original TASER electronic control device (ECD) back in the late 1960s. In 1993 he teamed with TASER International to develop the first AIR TASER ECD, the predecessor to the ADVANCEDŽ TASER™ M26 and the TASERŽ X26™ ECDs. More than 14,000 law enforcement agencies in more than 40 countries deploy TASER brand devices as a lower level response to resistance that has saved countless lives and protected law enforcement and citizens.

A prolific inventor, former chief scientist for the Apollo Moon Landing Mission, and a test pilot, Jack succumbed to Alzheimer's Disease on February 7, 2009. Jack's wife, Ginny Cover, would want everyone to remember that the world is a safer place thanks to Jack's enormous contributions to the aerospace and law enforcement industries.

I had the privilege of being marrried to Jack for 33yrs. He was a kind, considerate, and thoughtful man. I marveled at his brilliance and his inventiveness! His happiness was, that so many lives were saved because of the Taser. I loved him and will miss him.

Jack was an unsung hero of our time. I was honored to have the chance to visit with him a few weeks before we lost him. He absolutely LOVED reminiscing about the early TASER days, and how it all came to be.
The man saved a lot of lives and a lot of careers.
R.I.P., my friend.

These articles and the TASER Atrium are fitting tributes to Mr. Cover. But the greatest tribute will be the ever increasing use of TASERS in defending officers and citizens.
