John Swierz, 68, passed away peacefully at home with his family on Friday, July 7, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marge (née Rolston), children Jen and husband Jim Weightman, Matt, Greg and wife Alex (and soon to be grandson), mother, Mae (née Carpenter) and other extended family members.
Originally from Yonkers, NY, John was the only child of Julius and Mae. He grew up with a love for sports, playing baseball, tennis, and golf. He was a fan of the NY Giants and Yankees (later joining his sons in rooting for the Mets), and Arnold Palmer.
An avid golfer, he and Marge retired to Pinehurst a few years ago. Previously, he worked in the telecommunications industry in NY, FL, and RTP, traveling extensively in his role as Sales Branch Manager. He was also involved in the real estate and mortgage industries. He was a 1970 graduate of Manhattan College, with a degree in Business Administration.
He was a loving husband, wonderful father and attentive son, considerate and kind. He was always ready to offer his help and assistance. He was witty, supportive, and encouraging. He loved his family.
The viewing at Boles Funeral Home (at 425 W Pennsylvania Ave, Southern Pines, NC, 28387) is Sunday, July 9 at 11:00am.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
