Emily Carolyn (Jackson) Johnson, a Hope Hull, Alabama-raised teacher, who took her childhood passion for learning and built a lifelong career in education, died on Feb. 19, 2015, in Mt. Holly, New Jersey. She was 76 years old.

As the youngest of three children to Marie (Owen) Jackson and Felix Jackson, Sr., and the stepchild of Clemmie Mae (Felder) Jackson, Carolyn graduated from Carver Senior High School in Montgomery and subsequently earned a B.S. degree from Alabama State University and an M.S. degree in Education from Tuskegee University. The majority of her adult years were spent in Washington, D.C. where she taught Typing and Business Administration at Ballou Senior High School. In her spare time she loved to travel, dance, and go bowling.

Carolyn is cherished and sorely missed by her husband Earl Johnson of Willingboro, NJ, son Jim Huntley of Los Angeles, CA, daughter Tonya Huntley (m. Rich Tanaka) of Honolulu, HI, her sister Lula Mae Hyde of Washington DC, her brother Felix Jackson, Jr. of Chicago, IL, and a host of cousins, in-laws, relatives, and friends.

The memorial service was held at her childhood church on Saturday, March 7 at 11:00 am at New Pleasant Valley A.M.E. Zion Church in Hope Hull.
