Nancy suffered from early onset Alzheimer's. She wandered from a family outing in October, 2016, and a massive search for her ensued that lasted over 2 years. Unfortunately, her skeletal remains were identified, and it appears as though she passed shortly after she went missing.
Nancy's story inspired a remarkable outpouring of support and lead the the creation of a Los Angeles County effort: LA Found which endeavors to help prevent at risk people from wandering and quickly locate them if they do. It also greatly improves the coordiation throughout the LA County system for dealing with a missing at risk person.
