Right before my wedding in July 2006, my husband and I found out that his father was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's. We went through all the usual phases: denial, anger, etc. The stages have progressed and it is getting harder to accept that he is not the same person he was even a mere 3 years ago. It makes me sad for my son and Wayne's other grandchildren as they may never know their "real" Grandpa. My father-in-law has now published a novel called "Time Zones....Slipping Away". It is about living with Alzheimer's from the patient's persepective and we are so very, very proud of him for this accomplishment. We all keep living by Wayne's only motto and that is to "NEVER GIVE UP". I know none of us ever will!!

I heard Wayne and his wife speak about their courageous journey with Alzheimers Disease. Their story is heartwarming, emotional, and sad. I admire that both of them are taking this ordeal and being proactive to help others suffering from demenia/AD and their caregivers. I plan to read his book. Their message means much to me as I help my 81 year old mother who is also suffering with AD.
My thoughts, prayers, and wish for God's strength is with all of you.
