Women are at the epicenter of the Alzheimer’s epidemic. Nearly two-thirds of the Americans living with Alzheimer’s – and more than 60 percent of Alzheimer’s and dementia caregivers – are women. My family lost my wonderful grandma Maddy in 2009 to dementia, and now my sweet grandmother, Ruth, has battled the disease for years, with me standing helpless on the sideline, watching her slowly lose her memories and sassy personality. While my times of late-night root beer floats are over with her, it is my hope that I'll see the day when kids and grandkids don't lose their family members to this horrible disease.
That being said, I'm taking action by taking the field. I'm so excited to be back for a third year. Please support my participation in RivALZ, a flag football game and fundraising competition to help end Alzheimer’s. For every $25 you donate, you'll receive a ticket into the game on Saturday, April 27 at the University of Houston TDECU Stadium, PLUS access to the After Party (with free beer), but every donation, no matter the size, counts towards the ultimate goal of ending Alzheimer's.
To eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
