Hey I'm Travis. Come and join me and my teammates as we take on a fight that unfortunately is a losing one right now. But with your help, support and donations, we can reverse that trend and help with research, patient services and eventually a cure for Alzheimer's.
I am in it to win it in memory of my loving grandmother, Hilda Jones, or Neenah as I call her. She was an amazing woman. I have the greatest amount of respenct and admiration for her. For the last several years I have seen what Dementia and Alzheimer's can do to a person. I saw her change from who I used to know to a different person and someone scared to death of what the day would bring. This is so debilitating and no one deserves to suffer in this way. This doesn't only affect the patient it affects the family.
She was a mainstay in my life for the last 38 years. As a "cancer kid" I often had to stay at home and out of school due to my treatments or low blood counts. Often times I would go to her house. This is where I would learn some very important life skills. Like how to respect people and serve those that are less fortunate. I learned how to treat people and what it means to be a good person. I also learned how to cook under her watchful eye. Needless to say, I am the only grandchild trusted with some of the best recipes handed down through generations.
I respect my grandmother and hold her in the highest regard. She is the only sub- 5 foot person that I am actaully scared of (in a loving way) as her opinion about me matters the most. She was always a supporter of mine and now that roles have reversed, it is my turn to be her voice and help those that also have no voice to be heard. Through your support, we can help conquer this illness and help all those out there suffering from Alzheimer's. I was lucky, my cancers had cures, my grandmother wasn't as lucky as Alzheimer's has no cure.
Women are at the epicenter of the Alzheimer’s epidemic. Nearly two-thirds of the Americans living with Alzheimer’s – and more than 60 percent of Alzheimer’s and dementia caregivers – are women. It’s time to take action by taking the field!
Please support my participation in RivALZ, a flag football game and fundraising competition to help end Alzheimer’s. We may be opponents on the field, but when it comes to Alzheimer’s, we’re all on the same side. This is a disease that must be defeated and we need your help to do it. Your donation will advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association.
Thank you for helping us tackle this disease – win or lose, our true goal is a world without Alzheimer’s!
To eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
