"Are you Holly? or Lori?" - a question that put me in tears and defined my visits to my grandmother as Alzherimer's took over her memories. Although it was a huge compliment to know that my grandmother thought I looked like my Mom or my aunt, it was incredibly difficult to realize that she couldn't remember who her oldest granddaughter was. We watched her health deteriorate and her memories fade for six long years, finally taking her life two weeks before her 75th birthday.
To honor my grandmother, I am raising money to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. Through the RivALZ Blondes vs. Brunettes flag football game and fundraising competition we can work together to help end Alzheimer's. Your donation, of any size, is greatly appreciated and will go directly to finding a cure for this heartbreaking disease.
If you’d like to see the flag football game, join us on June 3 at NC State at 10:00 am. Your donation of $20 will get you in to see the game! We may be opponents on the field, but when it comes to Alzheimer’s, we’re all on the same team; the goal is a world without Alzheimer’s and your donation can help us work to achieve that. Although I’m not playing in the game, look for me on the sidelines… I’ll be cheering on Team Brunette!
To eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
