9/17/17: Less than a week to go folks! Very excited that we are headed towards the culminating event this week in our efforts to spread the word about Alzheimer's and raising funds to "throw a flag" on this disease. Many thanks to those that have made donations or offered supporting words of encouragment. If you have not made a donation yet we'd certainly appreciate any support of any size!
9/10/17: Quite a day today. Had the opportunity to travel to St Paul and meet so many of the great volunteers who work so hard to make the Alzheimer’s RivALZ football game a reality. The players, coaches and Alzheimer’s Association representatives all are to be commended for their efforts. Very cool to be a part of such a meaningful event with passionate people. All with one goal: End ALZ!
With just 13 days to go our group continues to look for your support - please consider making a contribution to the Alzheimer's Association to put an end to ALZ!
Thank you to all that have contributed in so many ways!
Having lived through and witnessed the devastating effects that Alzheimer's had on my mother I feel compelled to reach out to you. This cruel disease took CONTROL over my mother during the last 5 years of her life. It was horrible for her, as well as her family and friends as it robbed her of any decent quality of life. Now, I’m doing my small part to fight back - with the help of some of my friends - AND YOU!
We are a group of football Referee's from Detroit Lakes that are giving our time to help raise attention and funds to defeat Alzheimer's. While we will be refereeing the RivALZ flag football game (see more on the tab above) on September 23rd our goal is more about education and awareness. It’s time to take action by throwing a flag on Alzheimer’s!
Joining me in this venture are 4 of my close refereeing friends that have been so generous of their time and in making an effort to raise funds. They are: Dylan Savary, Phil Kirchner, Mark Gulseth and Bob Meyer - all from Detroit Lakes. They have committed to making 2 trips to “the cities” to referee and have graciously accepted my challenge to them to assist in fundraising for the American Alzheimer's Association. Thanks so much guys!
What are we doing? Alzheimer’s disease is the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death - It’s time to change the course of this disease – together! That’s why we are taking the field as a volunteer referee’s for the Alzheimer's Association RivALZ, a nationwide women’s flag-football league created to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. The Alzheimer's Association is the world’s leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support and research, and the funds we raise will go directly toward their efforts. This is a disease that must be defeated and we need your help to do it. Will you consider making a donation? It's easy! Just follow the link below.
