There are not many diseases in the world, in which there is no cure and a minimal level of treatment. Alzheimer’s Disease is one of those diseases. No one survives Alzheimer’s. This is a devastating disease that is with an individual for life, whether they die as a result of Alzheimer’s or not. Alzheimer’s is the sixth leading cause of death and the most expensive disease, in the United States.
One of the most devastating factors of this disease is the burden that it places on family and care givers. This is something that really hits home for me. I am part of BvB not only for my grandpa, but also for all of the care givers out there, like my mom.
Current trends indicate the number of Alzheimer’s cases will continue to grow. This is why it is so important for us all to Tackle ALZ together and work towards a cure.
