For the second year in a row, in honor of my grandmom, I am participating in the RivALZ challenege to raise money and awareness for Alzheimer's, the disease that took her life. My grandmother was a vibrant, outgoing, amazing woman who loved her family dearly. She passed away two years ago, but Alzheimer's took her spunk away long before that. It turned an independent woman into someone who needed help bathing and dressing, who could no longer form sentences, and who did not recognize her loved ones. This disease has no cure and greatly impacts not only the person suffering from the disease, but also the family and caregivers. My Poppop was the sole care provider throughout all the years of my grandmother's disease and I have never seen a man more in love with his wife. I am also doing this for him, the most selfless provider.
Our fundraising efforts culminate at a female flag football game between Michigan and Michigan State on May 19, 2018 in East Lansing. We may be opponents on the field, but when it comes to Alzheimer’s, we’re all on the same side. This is a disease that must be defeated and we need your help to do it. Your donation will advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association. Last year I raised over $1500 so this year my goal is to raise $2000 to support those affected by Alzheimer's.
Thank you for helping us tackle this disease – win or lose, our true goal is a world without Alzheimer’s!
To eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
