My name is Marissa Giovanacci and I'd like to welcome you to my donation page for the Alzheimer's Association.
My story and connection with Alzheimers starts with my Grandma, Olga Rose Giovanacci. Before her passing she struggled with Alzheimer's. At the time it wasn't hard because I thought forgetfulness was a natural and normal part of aging. Although watching her frustration grow it taught me to be more patient, understanding and aware of Alzheimers disease.
My grandma was such a vibrant and lively person that would brighten up any room she entered. With her loud laughs and startling bursts of excitment, she would bring a smile to anyones face.
Alzheimers took her spirt away and the connection we all had with her.
At the time of her passing I was living in Massachusetts, and I remember talking to my dad and hearing updates about her health, and soon after hearing she passed. It broke my heart that I wasnt there, but when I look back on it now, the woman I remember was that loud, funny, comfy, dancing, happy lady that taught me how to knitt. And when I play on this team Ill be thinking of her and how much I love and miss her to pieces. So LETTS GOOO!!
