I would greatly appreciate you taking the time to read this page. Under no circumstance do I want any of you to feel obligated to participate, but I would like to minimally share something with all of you that is very important to me. As a fellow business professional or friend, I would hope you could at least give me the time it takes for you to read this email so I may educate you on what I’m doing to support such a great cause.
As a former football athlete who has played many years in the game, and suffered over a dozen head injuries I run a much greater risk of developing Alzheimer’s or Dementia as I get older. 25 years ago sports medicine wasn’t nearly as advanced as it is today. The risks from severe to moderate, or even repeated head trauma wasn’t a talking point on or off the field. Athletes were just sat down for a play or two and then sent back out onto the field once the heavy dizziness wore off. Today we know that a large number of these athletes who suffered these types of injuries to the head are developing early stages of Alzheimer’s in their 50’s and 60’s. Seeing that I am one of those athletes I have personal interest in educating people not only about safe play on the field, but also raising awareness about the long term issues athletes may suffer as we age.
This is why I'm taking the field with the Association Blondes vs. Brunettes®, a nationwide women’s flag-football league created to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. As the Head Coach of Team Blondes, our players and coaching staff are training and preparing for game day, but win or lose our true goal is a world without Alzheimer’s. I would love your support! With this cause I get to combine the love I have for the game of football, with my need for a cure for such a horrible disease.
Please join us on game day to cheer on Team Blondes. Kick-Off is at 7:00pm on April 28, 2018 at the Arizona Cardinals Facility in Glendale. It would honor me greatly to have any of you participate as a cheering fan.
If you would like to make a donation to help me tackle Alzheimer's, and assist the Alzheimer’s Association in the advance research to discover methods of prevention, treatment and ultimately, a cure for the disease, you may do so on this page.
Thank you in advance for your support and generosity – together, we can tackle Alzheimer’s disease.
