Jeff Mullen's fundraising page (honoring Peggy Mullen)
The Camels Hump Challenge (challenging ~13 mile backcountry ski that circumnavigates Camels Hump) is an event that was created by Dr. Warren Beeken (a pioneering backcountry skier and former neighbor of ours) in the mid 80's. Originally as a fundraiser for the Crohns and Colitis Foundation and more recently as a fundraiser for the Alzheimer's Association.
I've been meaning to do this fundraiser for years and now is definitely the time. As a teenager I watched my grandfather struggle with Alzheimer's late in his life and now we're helping my Mom thru a similar struggle.
This is all about honoring my Mom (Peggy Mullen) who I describe as a Supermom. She lovingly raised 6 kids and many animals (multiple horses, dogs, cats, etc.) while working full time challenging jobs. Despite my Dad's amazing efforts to keep her home as long as possible we recently needed to move her into the Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin, VT where she is getting the specialized care she needs from their amazing staff. As things progress my Mom continues to maintain her sweet personality and grace but this is still difficult for her and her family.
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's disease (expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050) and I hope you will join me in supporting efforts to end Alzheimer's by making a donation. All funds raised benefit the Alzheimer's Association and its work to enhance care and support programs and advance research toward methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's disease.
Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer’s disease!
