ONE DAY PRIOR TO THE EVENT: Thank you friends and Family for your generous donations. We are close to reaching our $35,000 event fund raising goal. Your participation means a lot to me.
By participating in this event, I've committed to raising awareness and funds to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association®.
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's disease and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk and we must come together to change the course of this disease.
This devastating disease lives with me daily since 2009 when my brother-in-law Edgar needed to move into Barbara's and my home so that we could care for him. The stress of Edgar's care likely hastened alzheimer's grip on his sister Barbara's mind now only in its 80 year.
More than $300,000 of Edgar's savings have thus far been expended for his care. Fortunately he lived a frugal life. But he may continue to live until beyond the exhaustion of his dwindling savings at a rate of about $10,500 per month for care. Did I say live? It seems more like a zombie's life.
My wife Barbara is on the same track.
This is the future for one in six of us? Do we want this for our children? Our relatives? Our humanity.
Let's discover how to how to prevent this brain eating zombie creating disease.
Please support my efforts by making a donation. All funds raised benefit the Alzheimer's Association and its work to enhance care and support programs and advance research toward methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's disease. Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer’s disease!
